Practice and improve your communication skills while completing a range of projects in the Pathways curriculum to gain the basic skills needed to present an effective speech.
Being an excellent communicator, strong presenter, or effective leader is more than just being able to give a good prepared presentation. At every meeting, we are given the opportunity to become a better listeners and conversationalist.
Each member helps play various roles in helping the meeting run smoothly. The Pathways projects help develop the basic skills needed to be an effective leader.
Whether it’s through speeches, topical (or offbeat) themes, peer evaluations, or chocolate-centric awards, we have fun as we overcome our fear of public speaking, build confidence and grow our leadership skills!
No need to RSVP needed, just show up! If you plan on attending in-person, please be prepared to show proof of vaccination record.

At every meeting we have up to 3 speakers give prepared speeches on a wide range of topics.
Evaluations by fellow members are a chance to learn about strengths and areas to improve.
These one to two minute ad-lib speaking sessions are great practice for thinking on your feet.
Our club is unique in having a debate where two teams craft and present reasons for and against a given topic.
Our club was chartered in 1947, the 540th club of Toastmasters International, and is one of the oldest Toastmasters chapters in Seattle. We are honored to continue the legacy of this founding club and we strive to uphold the mission and standards of Toastmasters International. Purpose generates energy and in our case, lots of welcoming warmth as well! We are known for our fun & supportive atmosphere. Chamber Club 540 is a large, diverse, and friendly group of people who all work together to ensure that every meeting is successful, fun, and a place for everyone to learn and grow as a speaker.
I recently led a training in front of my entire firm focused on “presenting with authority.” The skills I learned in Toastmasters informed the content I shared with my colleagues and the way I presented myself. After the training, I received positive feedback from my firm, particularly from the CEO. The success of this training confirmed the positive impact my time in Toastmasters has had on my presentation skills as a young professional.
I’ve never had a problem talking in front of or with people, but early on, through the feedback I received from my fellow Toastmasters, I discovered that I had two modes, presentation mode (prepared) and conversation mode (impromtu). While the former was much more organized and cohesive, the later felt much more natural, fluid and friendly. Through my speeches I have worked to merge these into one voice.
I joined Toastmasters in October of 2016 & it has been an enriching experience. Not only have I met a great group of people; personally, I have been more forthright & intentional in my conversation, choosing to speak when normally I would have “just let someone else”. Particularly, I was able to give a “impromptu speech” for my mentor at her 70th birthday party. I happened to say something funny & I am still being reminded of how great my speech was!
If you have any questions about our club or about Toastmasters we’ll be happy to answer your questions and as always we’d love have you join us anytime for a meeting.
