Katie was Toastmaster, who selected the theme of Travel Destinations. During the meeting she spoke of several favorite destinations of herself. She mentioned Los Tablas, Panama; Hoi An, Vietnam; Valencia, Spain; and Zagreb, Croatia.
Jessica’s speech, “The Seattle Freeze” discussed the perception by some visitors to our town are not very outgoing when meeting with people from other places. She discussed possible reasons and made some suggestions to make things better. Mitch gave an impromptu speech with an interesting consideration of how job-interview interactions compare with those of other relationships. Unfortunately both speakers spoke longer than their respective allowed times, so neither was eligible for the night’s best speaker award.
Debate Master Ben put out the question of what to do with the extra ticket left by a friend now unable to join you on the trip: Invite someone else or eat the ticket. Table Topics Master Dave invited participants to tell about specified travel destinations, based either on knowledge or faking it based on what each speaker already knew about each destination.
During the business meeting members were reminded that dues need to be paid this month, by check, cash, or PayPal. Dues is $70.00 for the six months ending this coming March. It was announced that Jessica has almost completed the task of putting up the Club’s upgraded website.
