Lauren led our meeting as Toastmaster. She used a great tool to practice impromptu speaking, we call it “Ask Me Anything”. This format involves all members and guests writing down questions on slips of paper and then the Toastmaster draws questions throughout the meeting and answers them.
We had 8 guests, which was a higher guest count than usual. It was great to meet some new people!
Diana gave a speech about why she joined Toastmasters, what she’s picked up from it, and what she is still working on. We also had a debate about whether it is preferable to speak in front of a group of people you know or in front of a group of strangers, which resulted in an almost unanimous vote that speaking in front of strangers is preferable. 🙂
